Been awhile. I had (1) good tranny out of (6) I have. Kept swapping them out and I got to my last one and it worked. I took it mudding since then and showed up my jeep buddy. I have another post about this.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=651385
I decided to tear into it and do some todos I've been meaning to get to. I'm rebuilding the front end king n link pins and m going to cut and turn the front end some more. I have adjusters but maxed out she still sits a little low.
Or should I get heavy duty torsion leaves?
I don't want it to ride like a truck though. Just want a little more Hieght when needed.
Also going to wire my fuel pump relay to my oil pressure switch. And do a bunch of other stuff I've been meaning to get to. I'm also in the process of building another 1835 with more torque of a cam and better flowing heads. Thinking about getting jet Drs for my dellortos too. Also would be nice to find some kind of snorkel system that would work well with duals.
What do you all think? _________________ My build:

Only people I know of is my buddy and I. We just went to the dunes last weekend and we both blew up 1st gear. What are the odds?? I'm always down for a run. Not sure where to go anymore though. |
Wow great job, you have looked at my build as well. Most people get that deep in a project never get's done! As you can see in my build I have a Wright gear box with 4.37 ring and pinion. Car is not done yet ,have not
tried it out, so close gas tank, drivers seat, battery wheels & Tires.

Well back at on the baja. In the very long( cause of $$$) process of building another 1835. If this motor turns out good then I will start saving my pennies to build a stroked out beast.
Been rebuilding the suspension and steering. I found some blue and silver metallic rattle can paints that are almost a dead nuts match for my colors. I figure I can make it purty. Basically she's down right now so thinking of going through it front to back and fix or clean up anything I've wanted to do for awhile. Now that we can post pics from the iPad. I will try to not be a lazy bitch and start posting again. _________________ My build:

well, put the brakes on the motor for now. need to get top end ordered before i go any farther and my daughters dog took some chunks out of my little dog(cost me $1500!!).
Been working on my front end-making it pretty. Not the best paint job, but i didn't want to spend hours upon hours cleaning and prepping everything, especially since it's going to get scratched and covered in mud and sand lol.
What do you all think?

Somehow it looks a whole lot purtier in those pics than in your avatar. Just plain looks purty anyhow! _________________ Richard

When do you think you will be back on the road with that thing?
Next time I'm headed down your way to the dunes I'd like to check it out. (Not planning a trip anytime soon) _________________ my build page http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=536267 |

Those close-ups of the freshly painted blue look Delicious!
So glossy, looks like it laid down real nice. Good work. _________________ I'm just trying to recreate my RC buggy's as a kid to a real life buggy. |

Thank me for the comments.
Bad Chopper, PM me for my # and we can figure out a date. I should be back on the road in October hopefully. Don't know though. Up to the justice sytem( got into a bit of trouble recently😬)
I did just finish a trunk cover though. With the way I made my trunk it acted like a huge bucket that dumped in through any possible a few to the cab when I went through water holes. I even filled my glove box with mud last time out! I'm hoping this will fix that problem and the cold are through dash issue as well. I had to cut and glue a couple spots. But I think it turned out pretty good. All stainless snaps. Easy on and off. I'm hoping I could even take out without the front end on now... Here are some pics.

so i started on the back end. this is my rear hitch setup.
Whoopsy daisy... This is what happens when you have your car 2' in the air on a set of tiny jack stands trying to roll it up hill on a piece of crap wooden make shift dolly...
MAN DOWN!
luckily no body got hurt. especially the baja. I think the dolly and jack stand broke the fall...
hopefully i will get everything else done this weekend and painted and assembly next week. I still need to weld in mounting points for my skid plate and clean up and paint everything along with a lot of engine sheet metal and parts.
Going to make it show car pretty just to go cover it in mud this winter.. haha
I don't know why i torched myself so much? VW's are a DISEASE! in a good way though _________________ My build:

so i got some more work done. Rewarded my exhaust to fit my heat exchangers. Ended up routing the heater hoses on the outside for a better fit. now time to tear everything down and paint it all.
all mounted up
heater box flanges. welded on the inside
Heater tubes, welded on exhaust tube at an angle so they fit better.

Watch that heater hose, that exhaust will get hot enough to burn right through even at a distance. Ask me how I know |

I really like your solution for a sealed trunk with a 1 piece front end... ti turned out really nice. Your sparkley blue paint is pretty cool as well... car is looking great. |
