Not really a whine, but shouldn't a jan '49 split be the model with narrow gas tank, banana bumpers, football interior mirror, thick ring rear lights, decklid with license plate pressing, ... ?
I could understand the price for a matching number, genuine early '49 split, but not for a late '49 with later engine. |

For sure not jan. 49
It would have a front turn handle hood, metal gloveboxes, small fuel tank and more early features then.
This one even has the "wave" in the door glass. When did that come? Mid 50? _________________ Master of my domain! |

can't really see it well enough, but the Tempo Matador did come with 16 inch wheels, just a little wider than a beetle or bus rim. _________________ regards

Yes, SCAM. He got 2 ads auto-deleted by the scam filter first too but that last one made it through.
Thanks to the people who reported it, including patsey77 _________________ How to Post Photos

So this is a serious question.
What exactly is happening to our hobby? Yes I still call it a hobby.
Does anybody know what "rare" means, it means you cant find one, or they only made so many and they are like hens teeth.
Lets revisit about 10-15 years ago. If you wanted a split/oval or whatever else you were interested in (VW) you could go out and find it, without question.
Lets go back to current day, If you wanted a split/oval or whatever else you were interested in (VW) you could go out and find it, without question.
What am I missing? _________________ 55 Oval |

What's missing for me is that the term "rare" is not used in the ad, unless I'm Jonesing, and I read it 4 times. _________________ Jack Staggs

I dont think rare needs to be included in the ad, he's asking 30K for a rusted and banged up body with a couple parts attached.
If the word rare had been used, he maybe asking 60K.
So if rare wouldn't be how you describe this car (basket case), what exactly warrants a 30K asking price? For 27 years I have been dealing in VW's, it has gone from a gentleman hobby to something that really cant be described. I'm just wondering if someone can shed the light. _________________ 55 Oval |
