I agree what a treasure! Great that it's wearing original paint. Makes you wonder why they even resprayed it in the first place? That OG paint looks really good. _________________ - Chris

I recently picked up this 61. Going to keep it stock and use as many original parts as possible. I'm not painting anything inside, outside, or mechanical. Well that's the plan anyway, first drive out might change my mind on stock brakes and motor. A previous owner used a nice red primer to postpone the rust many years ago, blends well and saved the roof from serious pitting.

63 notchback. I spent most of the weekend CLR'ing the rust a bit to knock it down and then I buffed and waxed the paint.

Very nice looking car. What is the trick to using CLR on a vw? I have some I bought to use on the roof of my bus but I'm scared to use it. Do you just use a rag and slowly wipe it on the rusty areas? _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. Use a scotch bright and 50/50 clr and water in a bucket. It doesn't work that fast and takes a lot of elbow grease to knock down the rust. If it's bare metal rust you can scrub hard but if it has paint just go lighter because the scotch bright pads will make scratches. The buffing helps take out scratches as well as the waxing.
This is what I did and honestly was the first time I've done this. _________________ - Chris

Now in my hands, safely tucked away for a future project. Staying 100% stock, it needs a bit of welding , both door pillars need a little repair, lower front nearside quarter, both rear bumper mounts, sunroof corners need attention, and it needs some dent repairs. Its got great channels, floors, rear crossmembers and all the other structural areas are amazing factory paint. The interior is shot and needs everything. Just a nice untouched car that needs TLC.
