Many car clubs host a “Show within a Show”, the foundation of what makes the Arthritis Car Show a premier event. The Central Ohio Vintage Volkswagen Club has been a long and proud participant, and this year is no exception.
The Arthritis Foundation Classic Car Show and Cruise-In is a family friendly event that combines over 1,500 autos, a variety of delicious foods and a host of car related vendors.
The weekend starts early (9:00 a.m.) on Thursday July 7th with the 4th annual Rolling Legends Tour to Washington Courthouse. Registration includes touring, exclusive access to view private collection cars, and a catered lunch for two. If touring is your style you won’t want to miss it!
Friday night’s Cruise-In features six foot trophies awarded to the top 100 cruisers as judged by a knowledgeable staff. Stick around after the awards for an outdoor concert by the Van-Dells, which always has the crowd dancing.
On Saturday July 9th, the VW Show within a Show participant’s will gather in one of the prime grassy Metro Center locations, adjacent to the Porsche Show within a Show area. Come and enjoy the VW Hospitality area where you can socialize, hydrate and relax. Make plans to stay again Saturday night to enjoy the music of Phil Dirt and the Dozers.
Participants in Saturdays’ VW judged event can compete for awards in the following classes;

• Water-Cooled Factory Production all years 1- 1st Place 1- Award of Excellence

If anyone followed the Blue Mamba build threadhttp://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=335244&highlight=blue+mamba or http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=653850&highlight=blue+mamba

Blue Mamba
The Viper V-10 650hp powered Blue Mamba Karmann Ghia is going to be on display during the Classic Auto Show Weekend. Don’t miss the opportunity to see and hear this one of a kind engineering masterpiece!
A little background…..
A post on “The Samba” website appeared detailing the build of a custom Karmann Ghia. The motivation for this build was that a Dodge Viper V-10 producing around 650hp was going to power it! Many on the Samba website panned the builder claiming it was destined to be another “hacked” and unrealized dream. Unfortunately the original builder became ill and ended up selling Blue Mamba as an uncompleted project to Keith Goggin who is a co-owner of Deans Rodz & Race Carz. As the project progressed it became evident that no ordinary builder was involved. An amazing amount of custom billet parts were produced. The engineering is state of the art. Co-owner Dean Laurent finished what is now known as “Blue Mamba”. Laurent estimates 8,000 hours went into bringing the Blue Mamba to life. Blue Mamba was shown at the Detroit Autorama. It qualified for the Riddler Award, becoming a Riddler “Great 8” finalist, ultimately winning the Lokar 2013 Car of the year at the Autorama. The car has won many awards from the 2013 Lokar Car of the Year, to Best in Show at events from Boston to Vegas. Blue Mamba has been a featured custom at the SEMA show.
