Not sure I'd agree. Zoom in on the mud flap behind the tire. Hard to tell, but looks like it's turning to swiss cheese, which means it's possible the channels are totally rusted too.

Here's an over exposed copy of that same picture. I saw the same thing you did there as well but it checked out clean. The rockers and channels were the first things I checked as well as the fenders (knowing these aren't a simple bolt on part like on a beetle)

Since you sound capable with the mechanics but don't want to do body work, here are some non invasive ways to better assess the channels assuming you can inspect in person. I've been an unsuspecting victim of them channels so I may be a bit overly cautious on this topic Laughing

What a thread J1! That's what I call detailed.
I'll have to drive out there again and do some xtreme investigating. It's actually not too far from ya in the desert Smile I moved to California here a couple months ago and I've found that the only thing I love about living inland is dry cars Laughing

It's up to you but you might find it useful to change the location in your profile. You could well find moral and practical Ghia support living in your locale. Smile

4k is what she's asking. Looks like she's a little high on the asking price so I'll either try and talk her down with cash in hand or just hold out for the right opportunity.
