Speaking of clowns, when are you going to shave your face Ali Babba? You look like your ready to take flight on a magic carpet after granting 3 wishes.

Looks like my recent purchase...1974 1 owner. 120K documented miles, window sticker invoice, original paint, never wrecked, original interior and of course all matching numbers. I even have the cashed check the owner signed to buy it.

A week or two ago I saw this little 1970 parked in front of someone's house near the community garden where my daughter volunteers.

Today as I was going past I saw the 72 year old owner and told her I liked her ghia, talked about my ghia project & made some vw small talk, told her about the samba. She wanted to know where I took my vw's for repairs, she said she was too tired to do the work on it herself anymore.

Shocked Wow.
Did you tell her to roll under and adjust the valves? Wink

I will say I am not finding beautiful Ghias, but I am finding parts cars very easily. This most recent find is a 1970 with a stock 1600 manual transmission. The car took a hard hit up front and is rebuilt in overy a inch plus of bondo. The yard only charged .05 per pound at just over 1500lbs. I have already stared the disassembly process. I pass on all the parts I don't need at an inexpensive price point. Saved from the inevitable crusher.

That front bumper looks pretty good. Oh, no way is that hood going to fit on that ghia.

Lol..that's the replacement hood for my Suburban. Did you know that deer sometimes don't move even though they see you coming? I removed all dead weight that I could at the salvage yard. Hood, decklid, and some other cursory parts stayed at the yard. Further note...the Ghia is a late 69 with those bigger tail lights. I am joyous since I can insure I have replacement guages of the same vintage.

Save the windshield -- All you can get for the late models is that FU junk and they do not fit!!!!!

I plan on a full frame off restoration, back to the original builds with my own subtle touches thrown in lol I've been compiling info on it so I can stay as true to original as possible & am waiting to hear back from the original builder!
