RAM protection seems to have become "standard equipment" for North American imported beetle by mid/late 1954 and egg tail lights also began somewhere in a similar time period. Has anyone ever found an original egg equipped car without overriders?

Please post pics of your egg cars with and without overriders because they're just so dang sexy

July 54 (should have hearts) but both mount in the same "low" location. This cars birth certificate says it was equipped with RAM protection. I'm going to have to switch to euro blade bumper(s) so people have a chance to see my 6 volt brake lights!

I thought the pre '55 ram protection mounted differently than the examples shown. I thought it looked like the ram protection on the first page of the "Beatrix" build thread.

No, the pics on her thread are an aftermarket part, not original ram protection.

Here is couple of pictures of my 54 as found in the Texas desert...no laughing

I thought it was inconclusive as to whether the overriders on my early 54 were either accessory or factory. They fit way too perfect to be anything but OE.

I also thought we determined that the Overriders as we know and see were first seen in Oct 54. So Overriders before that time were indeed just bolted on top of the euro blades and guards.

This has a cover date of October so it would have been written before that, and the car built even earlier.

Sorry Ladybug, I didn't know anything was determined.

I do think they are great accessories, OE or not

... oh, I'd say these were ADDED, for sure... even VW had more taste than that (set up)... Euro guards and towel bars... some might disagree with me and that's okay... I wouldn't run 'em.

Sorry that is what I meant; for sure by this time the Overriders were the same. Should say 'for sure by' not first seen.
