So I noticed that both my rear wheels have a tiny bit of slop. They were cranked down all the way and you could rock them enough to hear a little knock. In fact I think it's the clunking I was hearing wile driving it. I replaced them not too long ago and don't have a lot of miles on them. I pulled them and thou outer bearings have considerable am amount of play between the inner race and the roller bearings. I went down and got new ones and they feel the same. I even pulled some off some old trailing arms I have and those German ones are the same. What's the deal? Am I missing something? I have all the spacers and stuff.
Anyone have experience with this? Thanks. _________________ My build:

Good quality FAG bearing for the IRS rear trailing arms can be found at
https://weddleindustries.com/products/1000175/1001553

Other things to know is that stock IRS trailing arms the bearing carriers are soft and will wear. I have use shim stock and feeler gauges to fill the area between the bearing and carriers.
Also the stub axles do wear where outer bearing sets and some will have more clearance then what should be there.
A better setup if you have the funds is a micro stub setup. It is like what Chevy uses in their trucks 4x4 IRS front ends. _________________ Joseph

Those are the bearings I got. I wonder I'm my spindles are worn? I have a bunch in my shed. But it seems more of play with the race and bearings. Not the race and axle. _________________ My build:

I currently have the same problem and I have used shim stock before. I replaced one arm but it was loose when I got it has gotten worse .
On the worst side I can feel play with just moving the brake drum but the other I can only feel it with big tire on it for leverage. |

Well I ended up finding a stub axle that seemed tighter on the races and spacers, replaced the spacers(they were worn and had grooves in them. ) and the outer bearing on the passenger side. It seems to have less play than before. I will probably replace the drums soon too, it was a little loosey goosey on the splines as well. Oh yeah. Good thing I popped her open. My shoes were almost worn through! So replaced the brakes too. Doing the drivers side tomorrow. Then see how bad it clunks. _________________ My build:
