Damn, judging from the vehicles, etc in the backround, I bet that bug was only about 10 or 11 years old. Its already had a rough life.

That pic is rich in detail. 14th Street, near Irving Place. The Horn and Hardart Automat across the street. The White Rose Bar, owned by the same family that owned Beefsteak Charlie's. The Chinese restaurant on the second floor, next to the delicatessen. What a smorgasbord of food!

The "Copy Image Location" indicates that the photo is from the movie Clambake. According to this link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061489/locations the gasoline station location is Van Nuys, CA (part of the city of Los Angeles). Richfield Oil was headquartered in California. In 1966 it merged with Atlantic Refining Company to become ARCO. I remember getting gassed up at Richfield stations. I'm guessing the signs like the one in the photo didn't last past 1967 -- the year the movie was made. |

In his prime Lou Ferrigno was 6'4" and 290 lbs. I have trouble seeing him being comfortable in a VW.
