What are the hardest parts to find for a Type 34 Ghia? If one was looking at a project, what should he make sure is there?
Lets say top 10. |

Vent window seals, turn signal lever, windshields, headlight rings, rear trunk seals for the air intake are the hardest to find. Most of the other parts are available from a few guys that collect used parts for us.
You will spend ALOT of money for old used parts, even more for nice used parts or NOS stuff.
Most of the drivetrain, brakes, etc is standard Type 3 stuff.
There is a Facebook group that we are on for help and advice- it works great for us T34 owners.
Think of it as getting a Porsche 356 without anyplace for reproduction parts. We are making do, and a couple people are working on getting harder to find items reproduced. That is still in the future.
If you get a decent example with a good interior, I would say go for it. If you are getting a shell that needs most everything- stand by for alot of searching and money spending.
I had fun with mine.

Upper door seals for early (pre-66) cars, correct fitting glass seals (that actually have the trim in the center of the rubber) front and rear, inner carpet edging pieces for the door openings (L&R), correct fitting carpet from SewFine. At the time I did mine, front and rear bumpers, and INFO on the car itself. I only say that, as I had a very hard time finding info on some of my trouble spots, because nobody had gotten that far in their own resto. Granted I started mine in 2010, and finished in 2012. Fortunately, I had a lot of help here on this site and the type34 registry (T34.com) _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

What's that? Parts are non-existant? Or those that are available, are expensive as hell?
You're better off picking up someones project, as they've already spent a large some of money on it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.
