I'm about to assemble my first motor. It's a 2180. Rimco prepped case. Thick wall 92's with 82 crank. Tim's stage 1+ heads (42x37 valves. P&P. Port matched intakes) 5.4 H beam rods. Engle 125 cam. 1.25 ratio rockers. Weber 44's. Looking for good starting point for my jets. Advice appreciated. Anyone run this combo please fill me in on what I'm in for. It's going in a street bug

I have almost the exact same combo, without the 1.25's, and I am running 55 idles, 140 mains, and 210 airs, and 36mm vents. I did my tuning with a wideband, and it is always 12-13afr through all ranges.

I am also at 3300ft.

If at or around sea level, 36 venturi, f11 emulsion, 50 pump jets, 200air, 155 gas, 60 idles should get you real close.

I'd start with 36mm venturies, 55 idles, 145 mains, 200 airs, F11 tubes.

I'd go with same but 135 mains...my 2276 runs AFR in 12s to low 14s...Every engine is different though...compression, back pressure, timing etc.

55/150/200 would be a good starting point. You don't want to be too lean in those first few hours. At sea level this will be very close.

Old Thread on a 2180 Build Jetting.... But here is goes and were I am at elevation wise....

I have a 2180 engine that is not 100% dialed in jetting wise. It runs like it is 92% dialed in Jetting wise for the plugs read great plus the exhaust has a slight soot to it, but not bad...

What I get is a slight popping intermittently when cruising in like 4 gear in 35 mph zones or even at 55 mph.

Thing is this, from what I have read in the forums is that you are suppost to go by a math equation of 4.1 x your Vents.... But I have not found this true, why, I am at I think 34 vents with 150 Mains and 65 Idles.... Airs Unknown for I forgot to check last time I dug into the carbs...

So, what do yall think? I am at roughly 250 Ft. Elevation and have 1.55's Mains to throw in, think this will help? Also, I have bigger, I did a Main jet order and got 1.60's and 1.65"s as well... So what do yall think will clear up my slight soundless popping out the exhaust?

Yea, as for that equasion of 4.1 x the Vent size, I was at 140's and man I had some redulase popping.... Then went to 1.50's and here I am, rather happy with the car, but just trying to dial it in.. By the way, i read the plugs and listen and check exhaust for my jetting, not to fancy, but it worked in the old days and still works now, done a few cars this way, and yea, have 1,000 miles on her now, but since the break in, now to get to fisnishing it, jetting wise...

I am running Dell 40 DRLA's and as I mentioned when I dug into my carbs the last time I forgot to get the emulsion tubes and airs. Kinda sucks now for the weather here in Va. has my car socked in.

But the plan, guess next week or sometime when I get to it is to try the 1.55's to see if the suttle popping resides. Yea, you can barely tell it is there when it occurs and does not always occur.

But as for an engine set-up, the 40 DRLA's maybe on the small size for a 2180, for the upper breathing is hampened by the small Vents, but at low RPMS up to 5,500 they breath great, I have had it up to 6,000 RPMs, but takes a bit. Now just to dial in the final jetting and my Super will be a pretty fair Daily Driver... RB

So the engine is built. The transaxle is done, and in the car. I'm getting ready to see what jets are in the 44's due to the fact they came off a 1915. CR is set at 8.5:1, timing isn't set yet. I have a StreetFire CDI box I'll be using as well as a BugPack 1 5/8" extractor with hideout muffler. I'm hoping to get the jetting really close the first time around because I have a 2 stroke street bike that I jetted and wound up with a lot of expensive extra jets in a can.
