I don't really care to make one, so does anyone have a P/N# for a decent rod bolt stretch gauge that I can use for various rod types? Low Bugget has one for $150 that I might buy if one from Summit/Jegs etc. is not compatible.

I have a cheap proform 66788 that I bought for $30 on ebay. I took the tip off on the gauge and use a ball bearing instead. Makes it alot more consistant and repeatable. I'm also pretty sure you have a better gauge you could use.

The jegs one looks better made, robust.

Do you have a micrometer that will read it? My mitutoyo combimik does a good job, even with a 5/16 bolt. The anvil is small enough to just fit the recess in the rod

I don't have a pointed or round mics. Only flat mics. That's another good method that I didn't consider.

Make one for the cost if decent dial indicator or old micrometer...
