My brother gave me a VJ4BR8, 019. I currently have an 009. What difference will I see by changing it? I am going to get a Magnaspark when they are in stock, so wondering if I should buy the parts to use it in the meantime.

The advance on the VJ4BR8(019) comes in sooner so it should feel "peppier" off the line.

You'll need a o-ring, points, cap, rotor and condenser. It looks like there's missing/worn fiber washer and shims which is why there's excessive play on the shaft.

I have the cap. I bought a condenser and oring from WW today. It also has the fiber washer. It is a little loose though. Glenn, what kind of end play should it have?

Minimal... if the fiber washer is OK, then it could bve the one under the mainshaft inside. There's too much play for it to just be worn metal shims.
