january 19th
The plan was to drive up north to meet a friend in new market
So i opted to get a travelling buddy..
went to her place and picked her up. She was overextactic to be in the bus..
so her we went..
The first stop was to get gas then went to canadian tire to get propane for the heater . The little cat heater wasn't that bad..
I had lots of winter stuff on she only was wearing fall clothes..
Omg it was cold and blowing.. The bus handled excellent and my travelling + attitude got us all the way to acton, on
After visiting the dutch store we decided to head back just to cold I need hook up better heat.. working on that today so cheers./.)
Heading back had its bonus though we watched the leafs game
and enjoyed a cup of tea and the almond biscuits we picked up at the dutch store

feb 2nd.
Sadly the motor i just installed got me to 23050 miles and then it shot out all its oil and croked..
I was just returning from burlington to the sad sound of crunch and the bus crawled to a stop alongside the road.. it was driving so sweet too..
Luckily a vanagon passed by and I waved at them to stop and he did and we called caa , he took off and i waited and caa to towed it home.
man another engine gone.. It was a great month of driving though..I'll never forget it.. worth all the effort..
The bus now sits to rest in the driveway waiting for its next motor transplant..
that may never happen s i am out of funds and out of patience..does anyone want to volunteer a motor to keep the bus going..thanks erb _________________

Sorry to here that. It was only 9 months ago I was typing the a similar story when my crank broke and I was sitting on the side of the road. You have a good parts stash a new engine should be easy to put together. Best of luck! _________________ __________

Erb
Cheering you and your mechanic Mr. Erb on.
I've read your first several pages as they were posted and came back yesterday and started all over.
You are inspiring based on your attitude throughout. You never seem to get frustrated with anyone and just keep right on going.
You are truly the spirit of bus ownership on a budget with the right kind of attitude.
I hope to see more and you keeping the bus. Or getting a comission to restore one.
Thanks
Brian |

I saw it and I doubt the options or figures go there.
But he deserves the right to work on buses as much as anybody even if at a different level.
It's not as if he hacked a 68 or hacked anything relatively. He puts a passed over bus on the road, swaps parts and generally makes the whole process enjoyable.
Carry on.

Geez, and to think people complain when others "waste" bandwidth for not doing a thorough enough search before posting a legit question...

man after having my bus for sale for a while now.. the offers on it were from $1 and up some of the offers were just I can't believe what people offered, not enough to buy another bus, or even another car.. for it overall though just decided why don't i just fix it..no one else was going to fix it..and I love having it
so here I am fixing it..
repainted the inside, slowly restoring it.. here goes
stripped all the bondo off the nose. stripped the paint off the upper end..
really brings me back to the first time I fixed it almost 20 years ago..
can't wait to drive it again..oh yeah and its all steel now. ha..what a bonus..
cheers

Nice Erb!
I had to put on night vision goggles for that first part but very cool.
How many miles and days on the road?
Sorry I may have missed some of the text/only watched once.
Thanks

started the year driving on my birthday feb1st with 23001 miles. At about that time I switched the motor then and put in a spare parts motor that needed pistons and cylinders and some other work it was junk still is in my opinion. Put that together in may and just reached 27000 miles last week on my way up the hamilton escarpement.
so far 4000miles and going. at 24000 miles i took the motor out and retorqued the heads to 30 ppsi, have had a good 3000miles since then.
been camping with it several times, been to the beach, been to shows, been all over ontario with it.
The biggest improvement was putting the camping interior in the seat i used to have on the back was nice however having a bed in your car is allways useful. If you see me somewhere stop by and say hi.
hoping for many more smiles and miles!! _________________
