Trying to dial in a new set of Weber 34 ict's.
The Bus is a 68 early bay with dual port heads. I have the snail for use with the Bug and it works well because I can see it from the top, not so the Bay.
Is the UNI-SYN gauge any better? It at least looks like I can read it.
Is there a way to adjust the snail so it won't be quite as sensitive? _________________ 70 Beetle (1776 MoFoCo)

I made an adapter for use on the Kadrons. I think the 34ict's would be similar. The adapter is simply a 90 degree pvc pipe fitting with rubber glued on the ends for a tight seal. That way you're able to seal on top of the carb and the snail you're looking at straight on. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

I always used a uni-syn and had no issues. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

You have to cut the hole in the rubber part so it lines up with the hole in the plastic, on the side there. Then you can turn the rubber in the plastic to make the hole through bigger or smaller, to make the readout less or more sensitive, respectively.

Thank you. I will try to cut the holes in the plastic. I like aeromech's idea too. Make it a little easier to see. Ordered a Uni-syn too just to have one of each.
Thanks for the help. _________________ 70 Beetle (1776 MoFoCo)

^^^Ditto^^^
Although I drilled holes in the plastic above the rubber.Start small and then enlarge until the pointer reads in a convenient spot on the scale. Works fantastic. _________________ 71 Superbug

Might be a bit more difficult in a bus (I dont own one "YET"), but I've used this on my 34 ICT's in my bug:
Really easy for me and, from what I've seen of the bus engines I've looked at, it might work out pretty good. _________________ 72 Baja lookin' Super

I'm planning on synching some original solex 34 pdsit carbs for a 72 bus and i see people are using what is maybe called a "bk adaptor" - I think bk is the tool itself, the snail style. I see these adaptors come with the new chinese universal kits and the kit from cb I think, but can you buy one separately?
Looking for this I think
Also, anyone try one of these?
https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/car-accessories/balancing-tools/synchrometer-adaptor-elbow-06/
or how about this adaptor?
http://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-synchrometer-su-stromberg-syn001c.html
Alot of these are available from Europe and shipping can be prohibitive. Anyone know where to get stuff in the US?
I might have to make some kind of adaptor as I don't want to buy an $85 unisyn when I already have one but just need that rubber thing. |

gauge on the uni-syn changes angles for down or side drafts. There is a center wedge that opens and closes by screwing it more or less open to place the gauge in the middle of its range. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

I'll probably be doing something similar. I've only got the style on the left.
