Hello,
Did anyone here open his tunnel from oval yet?
I know there is a topic somewhere wich was documented, but I can't find it any more.
Anyone has experience with this?

... man, I do that a lot... I certainly have my critics, but have supporters as well...
... here's on my '54. When installing a new gas line, from the back, I could not feed it beyond this point and opened it to find the obstruction.
... here's the clutch cable access, VW forgot to provide.

I was just about to post a pic then realized you linked him to my thread haha!
What do you need to know? It's a pretty straight forward job....just a bunch of spot welds to drill and slice across to pop the panel off. Have full access to everything and in my opinion less chance of distorting the tunnel welding 2 or 3 8x8 panels back in on top side. Remember to re enforce the clutch cable tube in a couple spots while in there. |

Here's a recent thread in the split forum where someone removes the bottom of the tunnel. Maybe thats the post you're remmembering.
