I am conpletely restoring my '68 convertible. I have the body off the Chassis and took the axels off the transmission in order to clean the tranny and frame. I shoved rags into the axel holes tightly. Long story short, everything is done and after putting the axels and tubes on I have a 1/2" of play on the right axel and no play on the left. I pulled the right back off and do not see a problem. The axel on both sides stick out 3 15/16" past the bearings on both side. Why would I have play on the right and none on the left? |

Take it back apart and do it correctly. First remember to never pull outward on the axle with the bearing cap removed. You have a fulcrum plate wedged under one axle and about to have another one. _________________ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people,

I put the right axel on first then after the left was put on I noticed the play. So, I pulled the right axel back off. I didn't see a fulcrum plate problem. And, I thought for sure the left was perfectly in place. I guess I just have to take the left off and triple check. |
