These pictures and the idea itself - absolutely amazing! Love the idea and have never seen it before.

What kind of wire mesh are you planning to use for the cooking? Does anyone know if a sheet of something like the stainless steel woven wire mesh - is safe to cook on? www.bwire.com

I recently heard that if you burn metal and any smoke comes off, that is chemical film, and the material should not be used as a cooking surface - is that true???

No wire mesh. Steel grill the can either be porcelanized or not. I think the chemical reaction you may be referring to is with Galvanized steel.
