Oddly, I enjoy reading the great sendoffs you guys give these great folks. It reminds me of what reading love should be like. Bravo!!

Randy also had his own bobble head. When he was presented with it, he was even wearing the same clothes as the bobble head.....perfect.

Not only did he have character, he was a character as well.

Completely shocked! When I saw the episode of American Pickers with Randy I was so happy! Truly one of the people I most looked forward to seeing at vw events up and down the west coast! I yelled for the wife and kids to "come quick!!! That's Randy!!! He's one of the coolest people I've ever met thru vw's he's on Pickers right now!"

It's been 10 years I've been outta the mainland vw scene.....
A few moments ago I saw a listing for a wrecking yard sale and read that Randy had passed... I am so saddened right now....

What a loss! You folks that knew Randy know what a treasure he was. What a character! Guru? Hell yes! Shocked... I've treasured Randy friendship going on 30 years now. Dang I'm bummed!

I guess the Big Guy upstairs needed another pair of vw guru hands up there... can only imagine the yard Randy has now! Rip my friend!

You can see by the above pics... not much went to waste... (ask my wife)

Here's a couple pics from the other day... Eric (65 Deluxe) saved some more bits before the scrapper came... and some way back pics.

By the time we left on Sunday for the last time Paige Randy's son, John Crowley and I were standing in a empty yard. All the big names had come through and grabbed bulk. Us little guys grab what our wallets could afford and the last box truck picked up the last bug pans. All was gone, but just a few forgotten wrecked bugs. It took over five months to pick up and clean out this yard after 25 plus years of Randy collecting. There will never be another like it and Randy's passion will move through our community saving aircooled buses, bugs, and ghias for years to come.

Randy in 2007 at Meet in the Middle. The dog is Gunner who belonged to Joe Crockett.

Right next to the Mango green ATE car is Joe's "pumpkin" lowlight Ghia he used to have.
