Hello,
I need to strip the paint and bondo from my karmann ghia.
There are several leyers of paint, bondo and rusted areas that need to be weld with paches.
I also would like to remove the paint and surface rust from under the fenders and door posts.
I do not have access to any kind of media blaster.
Please advice. Thanks. |

Two ways mechanical and chemical. Chemical would be with, obviously, chemicals like the aircraft one thwy sell at home depot. They take too long, burn if it gets on you, hazardous waste, and its not too good for bondo.
Mechanical would be with tools. My favorite is a paintstripping disc. You could get one for an air drill if you have access to a good air compressor, or for a power tools. They strip paint and bondo pretty quickly and if there is any rust if cleans it up. If you cant get a paintstripping wheel a wire wheel also works. _________________ 64 bug (o\ ! /o) |

Great, thanks. I'll try to use the paint stripping wheel and see how it works out.
Any advice on how to get to the difficult areas under the ghia fenders?
Also, should I wash the stripped areas with rust converter solvent or just spray a coat of epoxy primer? |
