I inherited some tools from my grandfather and am trying to figure out what this is from or used for. I was thinking about bolting it to my workbench and using it as a quasi anvil for hammering stuff against.
Anybody ever seen one of these?

Is there a chance he was like my dad- and would have picked that up at a metal scrapper/ junk sale because he too was thinking anvil?
It looks more like an adaptive/transitional piece manufactured specifically for an industrial application. I'm not yet thinking tool- but I'm curious. _________________

Oh definitely, I am sure it came off of something he found. So not necessarily a tool, but can be used as one. It looks to be painted safety or Caterpillar yellow. Perhaps it is from a tractor, crane, or bridge support?
The top measures 13 inches, the bottom 9. After looking more closely, there was a large black sticker that has been mostly removed. |

Looks like part of a tackle block from a gantry crane. Don't think it's a tool per se, just part of a larger machine. |
