hey guys first time posting on a forum but getting kind stumped with this rabbit never really messed with CIS or a vw at all really for that matter.
it's a 1982 vw rabbit pickup 1.7l gas engine.
I'm having an issue to where it will start and run for a couple of seconds but then if you try and start it again after it has cut off you get nothing but if you let it set for a few minutes before restarting it will crank and run a couple more seconds.
I have replaced the injector sleeves, injector seals new intake manifold gasket had the gas tank cleaned new fuel pump new fuel filter cleaned the fuel injectors tried another fuel distributor. I know I am getting fuel to the fuel distributor and pressure going to the injectors because when I break the lines loose that run to the injectors it sprays fuel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, matt |

Does it do this hot or cold? If hot, this is the "hot start" issue they are known for, I found a new or rebuilt WUR(aka Control Press Regulator) will solve this. You may also have a sticky plunger in the fuel dist, you can clean it but be careful taking it out and putting it back, as there are no and never have been any parts or seals available to rebuilt those. |
