need opinions on an idea. got a 1600 single carb. single port heads. I want to keep the single port but go to dual carbs. would use pict 3s on it. my question is would I get more appreciable power or would it just look cool with not enough power gain to make it worth the cost and hassle??? this is a trike application so space and fit is not a problem. I don't need gobs and gobs of power. just want enough to get down the road fairly quickly.

Im a single port guy hands down.. most reliable of the bunch.

IMO.. dual carbs on a single port 1600 is one of the best combinations of seat of the pants noticeable difference over stock. Ad some ratio rockers (or a small cam) and a light flywheel and it's even better.

BUT!
A light flywheel may not be a good option for the lighter trike as it will need the stock flywheel mass to help driveability.
Sure it will spin up faster and accelerate faster with less flywheel mass..but it also makes decelerate faster as well..
Some like the feel.. others don't.

Worth the cost???.. thats your department. If you decide its worth a try...
don't cheap out .. especially on the linkage..

never thought about a lighter flywheel . don't need tire burning power . just want to move off the light a bit faster or, quicker response i guess you could say. from your comments , it sounds like the conversion is what i want to do. thanks for the input. Smile

Tire burning... eh.. dont expect that.. Laughing but duals improve 13-1600 single ports nicely.
An engine is an air pump plain and simple. The less it has to work for moving that air in and out .. the better it will perform.
You just cant use too large of carbs on a stock engine. A range of 30-40 mm's seem to work the best (for me)
