Get the jerks, steeling parts of a bus is a crime (particularly BD!); Try to arrange the deal and instead send the Police... they should realize that you get in troulbes when doing so.
Even when the original owner is not to find any more, the bus belongs to the person who owns the property! Only this person can give permittance to remove something from their property. They might be happy that this 'junk' is removed, but you can for sure not molest some's stuff!!
Good luck!

I cant tell you what the difference in those plates is for but i can tell you neither style is correct for your bus. You need the early aluminium plates not the steel ones. Here is a correct plate in the classifieds http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1769506

They are thicker and seem to be much harder to find.

EverettB Mon May 04, 2015 9:19 am

Yes, those are for 65-up Buses (65 is my best guess)
Earlier Buses, 55-64 use the aluminum plates:

Barndoors do not use these plates at all.
Barndoor floor mats do not have the square opening that is used with these plates.

If your Barndoor had a floor mat, my understanding is it used this plate on the cargo door side:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1279748
There is nothing on the driver's side - the seat sits right on the mat.

Thanks this helps me a lot!

Happy that i need no plates in the BD so i can use them for my DLX.

I know this is maybe the wrong place for it so please remove if it is, but the plates i have has some different pressings, so is it possible that there are 3 types of plates?

EverettB Tue May 05, 2015 8:21 am

If you found a new type of plate, please post here in the Bus middle seat thread:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=107848

It is possible that the later metal plates have 2 slightly different designs - maybe there was some change during the Bay Window production times? Or maybe they had 2 suppliers with slight changes.

Cool bus! I use this bag as a seat cover in the back of my vert, looks like it would fit this bus well.

Maybe "S 749 nicht identifizierbar" (= not identified) is that axe that you found? Maybe its some sort of shelving in the rear to hold the mail?
