View original topic: Boost Gauge Pipe Route to Supercharger

How do you folks with Judsons et al route your boost gauge pipe? I am going to replace my fuel pipe and thought I might as well route two pipes: one for fuel and other for the SC. Any thoughts or considerations on this? Thanks!

I routed my line through the battery area under the rear seat and then under the mats alongside the tunnel. Up against the front baulkhead to the gauge.

You only need to drill one hole in the pan to gain access to beneath the rear seat.

Make sure the mats don't compress the line although I didn't have any problems with this routing.

John- nice pics and thanks! I suppose the pipe comes out of carpet at footwell and runs, exposed, vertically to gauge? My gauge has a flush mount portion so it can be attached to any convenient flat area (like under dash). Your car looks as if it is right hand drive for pipe is on right side of tunnel, correct?

Yes RHD...I had a nice set of loose fitting coconut mats that covered the lower part of the firewall so the tubing was well concealed and ran to a column Motormeter gauge holder.

i ran my gauge line up the roof line instead of chassis, along side the wiring loom in the oval, no drilling then..

D-train, how did you get the pipe into the passenger compartment?

I'd post a picture of my gauge but, for the life of me, can't figure it out on this site! :x I've read the instructions but they don't make sense. Other than typing the brackets with 'img' there has got to be an easier way. I post pics all the time on other forums.

Up through the roof line next to the wiring harness

Out next to the heater demister pipe

Then in through an existing hole

Then to the gauge, sorry about the blurry pic.
Something's there is sound proof stuff in the roofline so might have to run a wire to pull it through.

I use photobucket cause I'm the same an cant figure out the upload pic thing..
I'm a bit special. Haha

Even Everett has tried to help me post pics but I'm too stupid or sump'n! D-train and John- do you use steel pipe or rubber hose pipe? I'm currently putting new wiring harness, fuel pipe and everything in my car so I have quite a few options for routing the boost gauge pipe thanks to your input. Thanks for complicating things  Just kidding, dontchaknow!

Both runnin rubber hose for it, I'd like to swap to steel line, just cause rubber perishes after a while but it works for now so why change it.
While ur doin everything else run it too saves u havin to do it all later when it's more fiddly..

I agree with D-train - thru the roof (similar to how the wiring is run on the passenger side).

I had an Oval with a Motominder gauge originally installed and the teflon tubing was run the same as D-trains tubing, except on the driver's side.

Thanks for the comments. I'm leaning toward a thru-the-tunnel route whereupon the fuel and boost pipes can be 'married' together but the driver's side roof route is interesting, too!
kiwi obecny- the flat4 forum posts are awesome! The pics were so good I didn't even need to translate! I like the thru-the-bulkhead pipe connectors and how you made those brass ferrules for the ends of your pipes.
