What do you guys think the BEST rim and tire package for a buggy is?

I personally like mine the best! i know what a suprise

Rims -- Front 15x7 Rear 15x10 Cragar SS!!

Tires -- Front P215/60/15 Rear P295/50/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A

Wide five centerlines do it for me. 295/50's rear, 135's up front.

I really like the Cragar 5 spokes too. Also like Ansen slot mags. I have some copies but no real ansens, but those are going on a different project.
Mine will have Cragars, but they are 80's style with the 5 holes... They aren't really what I want but they came with the chassis and the drums and rotors are drilled for them. Wll likely switch to the 5 spoke Cragars or maybe some Slot mags.

I think different generations have different ideas of cool. You guys must be old.....

Although I havent bought them yet. I love the solid moon look rims. I think these look great. I like the 03C smoothie rims.

Love them old Cragars 8) Had 'em on my '70 Chevelle. I found a set of Ansens with Cobra center caps. Came from Californee. Real nice and clean. Put p275/55-15 BFGs on the back. Looks goood :D

I like old aluminum slots or stock VW wheels.

OEM from a '61 Beatle painted gloss black. Front stock, rear widen to maybe 7 or 8". To long ago to remember.

Wouldn't the yellow license plate cover make more sense on the yellow buggy?

I like to be different. I spent alot of time looking for wheels that not everyone has or can get, and I get alot of compliments on them. I also get people telling me they don't like them. I guess it's all personal preference.

definitely smoothies! but they are HEAVY!

Yellermanx Tue Feb 20, 2007 5:10 am

Another vote for slots. And yes Murzi it is a generational thing. I had slots on my first car, a 68 mustang. Jerry I like your wheels too, they look like slots. :D Here are my $30 slots. :D

Oh yea this is what they looked like when I got them. I had already started working on one in the picture. Then I paid $45 for center caps. That just doesn't seem right.

Hey I'm old 8) , I'll go with Centerlines,Less unsprung weight,I have an old set of ET's for now, just weighed one, 15lbs!! anyone know what a centerline type weighs? Oh and N50 rears and 135's fronts,Madmike

Elwood Tue Feb 20, 2007 10:53 am

Why is everyone seem to be running 135's. On a Buggy you got som much tire clearence there are so many options nowadays.
!85/65's are the same height of 135's and over an inch wider. No tubes. Better braking power on the street for one. Offroad and Sand might be a totally different factor, but I can't imagine it would be that different.

I am not one of those gotta have the widest tires.... kinda guys, I just don't really care for the sliding stops on the street anymore.

Hi YellerManx,
How'd get your slots so shine so much? ....alot of elbow grease? I run slots on my manx and they need polishing?

JeffT Tue Feb 20, 2007 2:07 pm

YellarManx, Love the wheels. Guess it's a '70's guy thing.

manxdavid Tue Feb 20, 2007 2:31 pm

Slotmags for me....it took me soooo long to source the correct 'Appliance' center caps though. I found a supplier in the US who had sold his last two NOS sets for the Starskey & Hutch movie cars!!!

Don't worry, I found he missing lug nut!!!
