I've always glanced at this topic but never read it.
I guess I'm in the old man club 67 1/2 here .
Had a 66 beetle in 70 and a 68 ghia rag top both in my home town IL rust city.
I now have a 73 SB that I got in 85 and took the fenders and interior out painted in myself . Rebuilt the engine in 97 and trans in 2002 .
It was in perfect shape until 2011 when some idiot ran a red light basically that destroyed the front bumper and did a little damage to the bumper bracket slots . Then had the left rear fender just behind the door and ahead of the left rear wheel sort of caved in pulled most of that out easy March of 2015 . Actually pretty good luck driving in this madhouse of Hollywood CA since 85 . It still bugs me though since this car was never hit before this.
It needs work but I'm getting what I can done. |

Picked up my second fasty about 2 months ago, its a 1971 Marina Blue Fastback, found it here in the classified from a 914 guy in Sacramento (his son was the type 3 owner).
This replaced my 1970 off-white fasty (originally Diamond Blue) which the engine died on me on father's day on my way to the lake.
Located in Portland, Oregon area currently and I am 38 for a wee bit longer.
Headed home from Sacramento after purchase

Eugene Oregon, 44 years old. Back in my late teens I had a hand full of vw's 1955 early oval, 63 Baja rag, 65 metal slider bug, 73 fasty, manx, and 66 bug.
Than I took a near 30 year break and played with american iron. 52 Buick, (2) 53 Buicks, 55 chevy truck, 56,chevy truck, 57 chevy truck, 72 skylark, (2) 70 Chevelles, 40 Plymouth coupe, and 65 Impala
But once VW is in your blood it's always there, So i've always had a want for a early fastback. So found this one a few months ago out of Tucson AZ. It's a perfect metal great patina, cancer free car.

914s are my favorite and currently have 3 - 70 with 2270 stroker, 75 1.8 and a 74 6 conversion with 3.0 S - Hot Rod!

I'm 52, in the UK, and this is my '67 squareback.
I've had air-cooled VWs for nearly 35 years now.
Always had a bus though. This is the current one, a much modified '69 bus.
