Two postcards of Monarch Crest, at the top of Monarch Pass (11,312') in Colorado. In the late 50's, a guy named Elmo Bevington owned the gift shop and restuarant at the top of Monarch Pass. He used the bus in the photos to take tourists from the top of the pass, up to the observatory on the continental divide at 12,012'.
In the photo of the observatory, it's hard to see, but on the side of the bus it says "Monarch Crest"
In the photo of the gift shop, the bus is parked off to the right.
The postcard of the observatory has been posted here before, although in black and white. |
