VWs in British miniseries "Smiley's People" (1982) Rome
6 episodes starring Sir Alec Guinness as former/retired spymaster George Smiley. I was tipped off to a Fridolin (Type 147) by "&Dan" from 2010 and just now skimmed through 5 of the 6 episodes to catch some VWs. Filmed in Hamburg and Luebeck Germany, also Thun (south of Bern) Switzerland.
1-3. Titian red '67 camper, episode 4.
4. Blue Bay window double-cab pickup, ep. 6.
5. Green Bay double-cab pickup, ep. 6. The white car is an Audi Avant which was a model not imported to the USA.
6. White Notchback at the Bern Canton Bank in Thun; ep. 5.
7-9 Yellow Swiss Post Fridolin in Thun. Distant shot is looking south at the Bernese Alps in the distance.
10. Bonus shot of the Notch driving past the parked Fridolin. Ep. 5 View other images: From Rome Search Forums for photo

VWs in German TV series "Der Kommissar" Rome
Crime drama show similar to the US show "Kojak" with police commissioner Keller and his team solving crimes based in Munich, Germany. From 1969 thru 1976; a huge amount of VWs in the background or even sometimes as the main character vehicles.

3. '71/'72 Super Beetle (1302), "Fluchtwege" (escape routes) S4E9, 1972. Girl hitchhiking at left gets picked up by the very next vehicle, an APAL L street buggy. See photos in my gallery.
4. 2 Beetles seen from the police team's patrol car. Per #3.
5. 6 (!) Beetles parked, per #3.
6. Fridolin in background; likely a German postal delivery vehicle. Per #3.
7. Uniformly dark painted Splittie bus, per #3.
8. Oval Beetle on Autobahn, "Parkplatz-Hyaenen" (parking lot hyenas), S2E3 1970.
9. '68/'69 Beetle, per #8.
10. Early Squareback in gas station pit. "Eine Kugel fuer den Kommissar" (a bullet for the commissioner) S2E10 1970.
